From The Pastor's Heart - November 2, 2008

Dear Church Family and Friends,

Next Sunday is Veteran’s Appreciation Sunday
We will be recognizing all of our veterans during both services on Sunday morning and honoring them with a meal and special service on Sunday night. We need all of our veterans to sign-up for the meal today using one of the blue registration cards that will be passed out today. Please fill them out and place them in an offering plate or leave them at the Welcome Center. If you do not register today using a card, please call the church office and let Mrs. Holt know that you will be attending and if your spouse or dependent children will be attending with you.

Any veterans who have not submitted a photo of themselves in uniform for the powerpoint presentation to be shown Sunday night are asked to do so by Wednesday night. You can leave it at the Welcome Center, give it to Pastor Ken, or bring it by the church office. We will return it to you after it is scanned.

Volunteers are needed to help with the meal. If you can help set-up and decorate, cook, or serve, please plan to attend a meeting this afternoon at 5:20 in the Welcome Center Conference Room. We also need 10 cakes for desserts. If you can help with this please sign the list on the Welcome Center Information Table today.

“The Grove” Student Ministry
I will be meeting with the student ministry adult and college leaders on Sunday, November 30 following the evening service. The meeting will be held in the Hospitality room. Every leader is requested to attend. During this meeting we will be discussing the immediate plans for the student ministry as well as future plans. With the help of our Church staff, adult and college age leaders, and student leaders we anticipate a smooth transition. As I shared last week we have begun an extensive and intensive search for our next student pastor. We have already received several recommendations and resumes and expect to receive many more over the next few weeks. Pray as we seek the Lord’s clear direction.

You are loved,
Pastor Ken

Pastor, I'm excited and nervous about this time in the student ministry. I'm sad that Jeremy is leaving, but I know he is following God's will and he is doing the right thing. I'm excited bacause this gives us, as leaders, a chance to step up more than we ever have. I hope our meeting at the end of the month goes well!
